Rita Frances Gavlik

Rita Frances Gavlik, 81, of Milford, beloved wife of Robert Stephen Gavlik, passed away on February 14, 2020. The daughter of Ruth White Suchy, Rita was born on November 25, 1938, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

In addition to her devoted husband of over 59 years, Rita delighted in her daughters, Donna (Frank) Caraglio, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Jossick, and Roberta Gavlik (John Lebel). She is loved and missed by her three grandchildren, Alora (Frank) Coppola, Frank Robert Caraglio, and Dana Jossick. She is survived by her brother, David Suchy of Maine and sister, Roberta Lucey of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Frederick Suchy of Trumbull. 

Rita grew up in Nichols, CT, and graduated from Harding High School in 1956. She was employed as a customer service representative with United Illuminating Co. prior to becoming a wife and fulltime mother and homemaker. Rita’s passions were tending to her beautiful gardens, entertaining, and spending time with family. Over the years. she and her husband enjoyed many adventures as they traveled throughout the United States and abroad.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 21 Robert Treat Parkway, Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will follow at Nichols Farm Burial Ground, Trumbull, CT. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org).
