Peter K. Grassmann

March 4, 1947 ~ December 4, 2022 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

Peter K. Grassmann, 75, of Milford, passed away on December 4, 2022. Born on March 4, 1947 in Locksiefen, Germany, he was the son of the late Karl and Kate Grassmann. Peter graduated from New Canaan High School and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. He was a powerful athlete who enjoyed sports throughout his entire life. From playing high school football to teaching soccer & tennis skills to his children & grandchildren, Peter always put forth his love of athletics. Peter’s extreme talent for the arts never went unnoticed, and oftentimes he could be found drawing a silly characature, although Peter was most known to create stunning drawings & paintings that resembled actual photographs.

Peter enjoyed playing pickleball and pool with friends at the Senior Center, nature, the outdoors, and hiking - particularly climbing up to the castle of Sleeping Giant. Oftentimes he could be found watching the waves crashing at Gulf Beach, enjoying the view of the sun setting behind the flag at Anchor Beach, or walking in the sand, as his love of the beach was always ever-present.

The best way to describe Peter K. Grassmann would be to say that he was an all-around beautiful soul. He always saw the good in everyone that he met and would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Family meant the world to Peter and he would stop everything to be there for any one of his family members. He was fluent in German and proud of his roots. He instilled the importance of family in everyone he met, and lived up to that message in his own life.

Peter K. Grassmann had a strong religious faith and followed the teachings of the Lord. He has forever touched the lives of all of those that he has met, and is now walking among angels. As Peter would say, “Auf Wiedersehen” (Until we meet again).

Peter leaves behind his children, Justin Grassmann, Krystal (Henry) Cordero, Joshua Grassmann, and Jordan (Roselyn) Grassmann; grandchildren, Catalina Cordero, Caleb Cordero, River Grassmann, and Autumn Grassmann; former spouse, Kathleen Grassmann; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Ingeborg Ziegahn.

All services will be private. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society (800-227-2345).
