Mary Ellen Artz

Mary Ellen Artz passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice of Branford, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on September 17, 1961, in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Sabatino and Helen Spinelli.

For nearly 30 years, Mary worked as a dedicated daycare teacher, devoting her life to caring for, educating, and nurturing children. When her own children had kids, she played a significant role in raising each grandchild. Mary fostered a strong familial bond, always with open arms to welcome loving embraces.

Mary possessed an uncanny ability to navigate life with positivity and grace. A cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Mary is survived by her three adored daughters: Jessica Dowdy (KaNard), Sara Branham (Kyle) and Samantha Dugo (Michael). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Josiah, Daniel, Tatyana, Aliya, Chryséis, Wynter, Hunter, Grayson and Maeve. 

A Graveside Service is to be held on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at Newtown Village Cemetery (20 Elm Dr, Newtown, CT 06470) at 12 noon. It is requested that attendees meet directly at the cemetery.
