Kipp Alan Taylor

Kipp Alan Taylor passed away on May 15, 2019 after battling illness for over 18 months.  Kipp was born on October 12, 1963, the sixth of seven children to Pauline White Taylor and Kenneth Russell Taylor of Milford, CT.  Kipp grew up steps away from the hospital, graduating from Milford High School class of 1981.  He continued his education, in the newly established Platt Tech Post Graduate Automotive Program.  Kipp had a passion for cars!  As an avid vintage and muscle car enthusiast, Kipp collected many different makes and models.  He was always willing to help anyone who needed help with anything, whether it was repairing something, picking you up if your car broke down, or just checking in on you when he knew you needed a friend, Kipp was there! He saw value and beauty in the smallest things, antique toys, and tools, ANY TOOLS, and small collectibles, many times surprising someone with a gift he found which reminded him of them.  

Kipps primary position was Head of Security in the Elementary Schools with the Town of Orange Board of Education.  The school children just loved Mr. Kipp, which is what they called him.  He greeted them each morning with a high five, a smile and an affirmation, “Keep Smiling” or “Don’t Forget To Be Awesome”!  He also established a security program for the Congregation Or Shalom.  Kipp was a member of the Milford Chapter Order of DeMolay and the Milford Elks Club and was also a Volunteer Fireman for the Town of Derby with Storm Co. 2.

Kipps dry wit, broad smile and large laugh helped him make friends everywhere he went.  Kipp was fondly known as the “Mayor of Milford”, a title jokingly given to him since he would have to say, “Hi”, to the many people he knew at different places or events.  He would go down the line of folks saying, “Hi, Kipp Taylor, running for Mayor, please vote”.  Like the City of Milford which is called the Small City with the Big Heart, that was Kipp!  A regular guy with the heart of a giant.  Of all of Kipps achievements, has was most proud of the 20 plus years he coached Little League Baseball.  He began coaching in Stratford Little League, then coached his nephews and his friend’s kids, with his brother Jay, for the Milford National Lou Gehrig Little League, and for their own Milford Fall Baseball Team, the “Taylor Brothers”.  Kipp was Co-President of the Milford National Lou Gehrig Little League for several years.  He had a special way of encouraging his players. He would say, “Chi-Ching! You owe me money for that foul ball!  I’m not going in the woods to get that!”  Kipp’s love and knowledge of Milford baseball led an author and her son seeking information about Lou Gehrig’s mother, who lived in Milford, to interview him, include him in their story and, of course, become friends.  Kipp said his contribution to Cathy Byrd’s book, “The Boy Who Knew Too Much” made him feel he had left his mark on this world.  Kipp, you left more of an impact on this world than you ever knew!!

We would like to thank our Mom, Pauline, for the many years that she cared for Kipp. She was always there for his doctor appointments, emergency room trips and hospital visits, as she would be for all of us!  We Love You Mom!  Kipp says, “I Love You…Later Bye.”

Kipps beloved father Kenneth passed away when Kipp was just 5 years old.  He is survived by his mother Pauline White Taylor, His siblings and their families: sister Denise Clinton, her children Leann, William, Jason and Jillian Clinton; brother Gibson & Karen Taylor; sister Stacey & Bruno Zdanowicz, their children Kenneth, Kyle, and Kevin Zdanowicz; brother Jay & Kathleen Taylor, their son Mac; sister Randi & James Somers, their daughter Brooke; sister Paulette & Andrew Vargo, their children Kilee, Drew and Molly Vargo; and also many great and several great-great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Benjamin Franklin White & Dorothy Laird White and William Taylor & Irene Sullivan Taylor.

Kipp, Thank You for the love, laughs, and memories and the many good times! We will be looking for you …..

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain.

Of beautiful birds in circling light, I am the star shine of the night.

I am the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing.

Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. that evening at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Make a Wish Foundation” in Kipp’s name.
