John T. Lane Jr.

December 12, 1943 ~ August 8, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

John T. Lane, Jr., 78, of Milford, beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Lane and father of Elizabeth Margaret (Craig) Tibbals, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2022. Born on December 12, 1943 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Katherine and John T. Lane, Sr.

John grew up on the waterfront in Woodmont, where he developed a love of the water, playing with his cousins David and Billy.  He enlisted in the United States Army at seventeen and was stationed in Germany during Vietnam.

Upon his return to the states, he learned the trade of bricklaying from both his father, and his grandfather before him.  He was a proud member of Local 1 of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts Workers union. If you spent the day with him anywhere in New Haven county, he loved to point out the buildings he worked on and give you a lesson on laying bricks whether you wanted one or not.

He lived the majority of his life in Milford and his love of the water persisted.  He enjoyed sailing his little Sunfish off Anchor Beach and scuba diving for lobsters in the sound.

Along with his beloved wife and cherished daughter, John leaves behind his grandchildren, Evan and Ella Tibbals; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends. He was predeceased by his aunt and uncle, Margaret “Peggy” and Charles Payne.
