Edmund “Ned” Joseph Doran, Jr., 73, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Milford and Stratford, beloved companion of Judith Greene-Doran, passed away on September 24, 2017. Born on July 26, 1944 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and Doris Doran, Sr.

Ned graduated from Bunnell High School in Stratford in 1962. He joined the US Navy and served aboard aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a Milford Police Officer for 29 years and retired as Detective Sergeant. Ned was a member of the American Legion Post 69 of Avon Park FL, serving as past 1st Vice Commander. He was also a member of the Milford Irish Society, the Police and Fire Retirees of Milford, Milford Elks Lodge 1589 and a volunteer at the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. Ned also was an avid golfer and loved being around his family.

In addition to his lifelong companion, Judith, Ned leaves behind his sister, Maureen (Ronald) Hager; brother, Ronald (Theresa) Doran; children, Jerry, Maribeth, Larry (Katie), Colleen, Katie (John) Chiesa and Mary K. (Sheldon) Gatison; grandchildren, Kevin and Briana Workman,  Jason Warner, Melissa and Jenna Quiroz, Jessica and Haley Bumbala, Steven Bistyga, Stacey and Amber Doran, Kylie, Johnny and Joey Chiesa, Christopher Barrett and Zachary Doran; and great-grandchildren, Angeline Doran, Coby Leon and Anthony Lazzara.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home.
